Dionysios Barbaris S.A. company has been successfully present in the area of marble industry for 33 years. Its founder, Dionysios Barbaris, acquired the company’s first quarry in 1976, in Kantia, Argolida. Soon after, he created a streamlined are of marble cutting and treatment.

The next step was made the following year: it was the acquisition of a quarry in the area of Karnazeika, with the famous beige marbles. The company, holding the two quarries and obtaining a third one in the following decade, again in Karnazeika, evolved in the area of treatment and cutting by updating and increasing its factory space.

The fine quality and the exceptional name it obtained in the area of reliability and service have been determinant for its evolvement. In 1998, it acquired its fourth quarry, this time in the area of Didyma, Argolida. Hercules, Centaur and Hephaestus marbles that were mined from the Didyma quarry, were those that mainly contributed in the company’s emergence as one of the most important in the market. The acquisition of two other quarries in the Peloponnese followed; one in Parnon, producing whitish marble, and the other in Lygourio, with a more self-colored beige. The latest acquisition – one of the company’s most important ones – was the quarry in Veria, in 2004.

By the end of the year, the company moved to the foundation of an affiliated company, called Veria White Marbles. With this celebrated kind of marble, the company made an effective entrance and became quite competitive in the white marbles market.
